Patient safety is a fundamental pillar in modern aesthetic medicine.
The Integrated BLSD Course for Aesthetic Physicians, organized by Agorà – Italian Scientific Society of Aesthetic Medicine, was designed to provide professionals in the sector with the skills necessary to manage health emergencies in outpatient or office settings.
During the training day, participants explored:
early recognition of the signs and symptoms of medical emergencies;
standardized intervention protocols according to the international guidelines of the American Heart Association;
the correct use of AED (automatic defibrillator) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques;
the management of specific emergencies in aesthetic medicine, such as allergic reactions, syncope, asthma attacks, local anesthetic toxicity (LAST) or anaphylactic shock;
the organization and preparation of the emergency trolley or backpack, essential for a correct operational response.
The hands-on session, the heart of the course, allowed participants to practice on professional mannequins and simulate realistic scenarios, reproducing the operating conditions of an aesthetic medicine practice. The experiential approach and immediate feedback from the trainers ensured effective, concrete learning that could be immediately applied to daily practice.
