THE FOUNDER

Born in Milan on July 15, 1946, Professor Alberto Massirone graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, where he also obtained specializations in Hydrology, Climatology and Thalassotherapy, as well as in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, and is also an expert in Nutrition Science.
Alberto Massirone: A path of excellence in aesthetic medicine
A man, physician, and scientist of great merit, he dedicated his life to a world of science and healing, where the soul intertwines with the skin. Professor Alberto Massirone (1946–2024) is credited with the vision of a "functional aesthetic medicine" with restorative and regenerative capabilities, which employs an "integrated approach" that considers the balance between mind and body.
A pioneer of aesthetic medicine in Italy, to which he contributed several innovations, Alberto Massirone promoted a vision of aesthetic medicine that goes beyond superficial appearance, advocating treatments that improve not only aesthetics but also the functionality and health of the skin and body.
A man of science, competent and farsighted, with over 40 years of experience in the field, he shared his knowledge as an author, lecturer, and esteemed popularizer. He fueled the passion of many physicians, creating a unique place where minds and people gathered and united, much like the Agora of ancient Greece. The history of medicine shows how the figures of great physicians were shaped not only by their discoveries and expertise, but also by their humanistic and philosophical approach to patient care. This is true in the field of aesthetics, where beauty is never an end in itself, but rather oriented toward the individual's physical and psychological well-being.
An approach to beauty that is also a guide on the path to health, just as a great scientific theory is also a work of art. And it's no surprise the professor's innate passion for cinema, which shares some fascinating connections with science, including ethical and social issues. Like cinema, science can address issues such as bioethics and must always consider the impact of its discoveries on society. Science, like cinema, is characterized by a shared purpose and collaboration between professionals and researchers, which makes scientific progress possible. After all, without creative ability, it's difficult to leave a significant mark in any field, whether art or science.
Professor Massirone has always shared his vast knowledge through writing, teaching, and speaking at conferences. He has trained and inspired many doctors, contributing to the growth of aesthetic medicine in Italy and abroad. His legacy is evident in the professionals he trained and in the holistic approach to aesthetic medicine that continues to influence the medical community.
Academic and professional career
His professional career has been marked by a close collaboration with Professor Roberto Gualtierotti (formerly Professor of Medical Hydrology and Climatology and Director of the School of Specialization in Medical Hydrology at the University of Milan). Since the late 1980s, he has assisted Gualtierotti in teaching medical and surgical students, and residents in Medical Hydrology, Rheumatology, and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at the University of Milan. Co-founder of SMIEM (Postgraduate School of Aesthetic Medicine) in 1986 and president of both the School and Agorà in Milan since 1996, he has made a significant contribution to the training of specialists in the field of aesthetic medicine.
