Activities of the Agora Working Groups

Spaces for discussion and scientific study dedicated to aesthetic medicine and its main areas of development.

Each group, coordinated by leading professionals, conducts targeted research and review activities, with the goal of producing guidelines, shared protocols, and scientific contributions useful for clinical practice and the growth of the medical community.

Among the most recent activities, the groups have initiated systematic bibliographic reviews on PubMed, selecting relevant articles and studies to build an updated and shared knowledge base. At the same time, work continues on drafting scientific articles and developing practical and informative tools, such as informed consent forms specific to the various application areas.

The groups' collaborative work helps promote responsible aesthetic medicine, based on scientific evidence, good clinical practices, and attention to the legal aspects governing professional practice.

Focus Group “Dermocosmetics”

Agorà, Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine

Coordinator: Belmontesi Magda

Members: Talerico Eleonora, Villa Francesca

The "Dermocosmetics" Focus Group carries out scientific work dedicated to defining shared guidelines and protocols, with the aim of integrating dermocosmetology into aesthetic medicine pathways in a structured, effective manner, supported by scientific literature.

Among the group's activities is a review of the scientific literature on PubMed, aimed at identifying and cataloging the most significant articles on dermocosmetology and aesthetic medicine, indicating for each whether they are available in open access or locked format.

Furthermore, two scientific articles have been written by members of the team, which represent the first concrete results of the shared research work:

1)“Peri-procedural dermocosmetic protocol combined with EBD (energy-based devices) treatment: literature review”
This paper presents a systematic review of the literature on the use of home dermocosmetic protocols in conjunction with outpatient treatments using energy-based devices (EBD). The objective is to analyze the most effective pre- and post-procedural strategies for reducing downtime, adverse effects, and complications.

2)“The role of dermocosmetics in the management of rosacea: an up-to-date”
This paper reviews the literature from the last ten years on the role of dermocosmetics in the management of rosacea, with references to its definition, etiopathogenesis, and current pharmacological treatments.
The aim of this study is to outline a dermocosmetic support protocol capable of integrating and optimizing the overall clinical management of the disease.

The "Dermocosmetics" Working Group represents a concrete example of Agorà's commitment to promoting scientifically sound aesthetic medicine, based on up-to-date evidence and protocols shared by industry experts.

Focus Group "Restorative Aesthetic Medicine" Agorà, Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine

Coordinator: Papagni Marco
Members: Baldessin Monica, Cordovana Andrea, Lazzari Riccardo, Redaelli Carolina, Renga Monica, Tamburlin Nadia

The "Restorative Aesthetic Medicine" Focus Group was created to explore the role of aesthetic medicine in the recovery and rehabilitation of body image and psychophysical well-being, particularly in cancer patients or those undergoing invasive treatments.
The group aims to define shared protocols, safe procedures, and specific evaluation tools to promote an ethical and scientifically based approach to restorative aesthetic medicine.

*Publication of the review of the HELP project* which will represent a starting point for the launch of scientific activities.

In parallel, a skin toxicity scale for oncology patients undergoing aesthetic treatments is being developed . This tool will serve as a benchmark for assessing the safety and skin tolerability of injection and regenerative procedures, laying the foundation for future clinical validation and application in professional practice.

The "Restorative Aesthetic Medicine" Focus Group aims to contribute to the definition of new standards of safety and clinical appropriateness, promoting an aesthetic medicine aimed at improving the patient's quality of life.

Focus Group “Lasers and Energy-Based Devices (EBD)”

Biostimulation, biorestructuring, and chemical peeling represent three complementary strategies that aim to promote tissue regeneration and renewal through different but synergistic mechanisms.

As a topic of study, the group has chosen to focus on adipose tissue biorestructuring, an emerging topic that represents a significant frontier in modern aesthetic medicine. The aim of this study is to develop a literature review highlighting the most effective biorestructuring techniques and strategies, with the aim of providing a useful contribution to the scientific community and daily clinical practice.

A new informed consent form for revitalization and biorestructuring treatments has been developed, which will be used as an operational tool to support professional practice.

The "Complications" Focus Group is dedicated to the study, prevention, and management of adverse reactions related to aesthetic medicine treatments, with the aim of promoting increasingly safe clinical practice based on up-to-date scientific evidence.

The group recently completed a narrative review of the literature on the use of hyaluronidase in aesthetic medicine , entitled “Hyaluronidase use in aesthetic medicine: formulations, safety, and clinical practice”.

The review analyzes the different available formulations, their safety profiles, and the clinical use of the enzyme, outlining useful recommendations for the management of complications related to hyaluronic acid-based fillers. The work is currently undergoing editorial review prior to publication and will subsequently be shared with Agorà members through a dedicated communication.

The new HYALURONIDASE informed consent model has also been defined, used as a protocol for correct emergency management procedures.

The "Complications" Focus Group represents a point of reference for the dissemination of safer, more informed aesthetic medicine, oriented towards the prevention of clinical risks, in the interests of the physician and the protection of the patient.

Focus Group "Therapies for the Body"

Agorà, Italian Society of Aesthetic Medicine

Coordinator: Raffaella Sommariva

The group's goal is to analyze, systematize, and compare different treatment methods, promoting an integrated, evidence-based approach to the main areas of the body.

The group chose to begin its activities with a focus on the arm region, an anatomical area often underrepresented in scientific literature, yet of great clinical interest due to the variety of treatable conditions and the high demand for aesthetic procedures. This choice arose from the need to address the lack of structured clinical classifications and systematically organize the therapeutic techniques and protocols currently available, with the goal of building a knowledge base useful for clinical practice and scientific research.

Among the legal activities within the group, the New Informed Consent Model for intradermotherapy treatments was defined.

The “Body Therapies” Focus Group aims to contribute to the development of shared protocols and tools that promote personalized, effective, and safe body treatments , with a view to aesthetic harmony and improving the patient's psychophysical well-being.
